Glass

Glass

Throughout the ages, glass has always been a treasured and luxury item; the fact that this fragile material has survived in many ancient forms demonstrates the status associated with it. One of the joys of glass collecting is that objects can be found to match all budgets and - with the right display and lighting conditions - even inexpensive items can be made to look like museum exhibits! Glass is also an academically interesting subject offering vast amounts of study and research opportunity for the enquiring mind.

At Peter Wilson Fine Art Auctioneers we encounter a broad range of glass collecting interests. From Roman glass bottles and objects, to the finely detailed paperweights of the mid to late 19th century and 20th century, the moulded Art Déco forms of Lalique and other contemporary factories of the early 20th century, through to the modern glass artists and designers of the second half of the 20th century such as Danny Lane, Flavio Poli, Michael Harris, Gino Mazzuccato, and Samuel Herman to name just but a few.
