George Case 48 key Concertina, with Boosey & Ching, Holles Street London address within a cartouche on the pierced black stained wood end plates enhanced with brass inlay on hexagonal body, together with rosewood case, the concertina measures 16cm wide Condition report: Worn throughout from a working life. Some distortion and shrinkage cracks to the end plates. The bellows have a working repair and tiny holes can be felt by escaping air but are not immediately obvious. There are small rips and minor losses to the paper decorations. One key is missing, many other keys have significant wear. Two keys do not function correctly and there is distortion to two low register notes. The instrument plays with plenty of volume. The leather finger grips have been replaced. The case is scuffed and worn. The original lock has been filled in and a replacement fastening has been fitted.
