Satsuma Asian Art Sale 24th May
Found in a house in Altrincham a good quality collection of Satuma. The group of pottery was formed by a Doctor and his wife in the 1960’s, largely being bought on their many trips to London where they enjoyed attending Sotheby’s auction rooms buying small fine examples over a decade.
Made in the Satsuma province of Japan South Kyushu during the Meiji period 1868-1912. A creamy beige crackled glazed pottery, generally decorated with picture panels using blue, red, green, orange and gold enamels applied in extraordinary fine detail will delight a Japanese ceramics collector.
The collection will be sold as part of a larger specialist Asian Art auction to be staged on Thursday 24th May 2018. This will coincide with Asian Art week in London.
Further consignments are now sought for this sale.
